ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A 48 year old patient suffers from a growing tumour on the right side of the
neck. A very tender and reddened tumescence caudal of the parotid gland is visible
on inspection.
FINDINGS:
On
the longitudinal panorama ultrasound image pathological changes with hypo- and hyperechoic shares
are visible in the area of the right neck. The sternocleidomastoid
muscle is softened in its structure and disintegrates in the region of the
caudal pole of the parotid
gland into an echofree area. The total extent of the pathological findings
is approximately 6,4 x 3,6 cm.
DIAGNOSIS:
The patient is suspected of having an abscess
of the neck.
