CASE
HISTORY / CLINIC:
37-year-old female who had undergone a radical strumectomy of a thyroid carcinoma
three years earlier, followed by radioiodine therapy. Increasing dysphagia and
incipient dyspnea for a few weeks now.
FINDINGS:
The right tonsil appears enlarged
and contrast-enhancing in the CT scan of the oral cavity after contrast administration
(upper image). The right pterygoid muscle shows an inhomogeneous
contrast-enhancement and appears enlarged in the scan done at a more superior
position.
DIAGNOSIS:
Metastasis of thyroid carcinoma
DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:
Metastasis of a different origin.
