CASE
HISTORY / CLINIC:
Patient with mild facial pains on the left side that radiate to the left cheek region.
The mirror examination revealed no pathological finding.
FINDINGS:
The lateral
and posterior walls of the right maxillary sinus appear signifficantly
swollen in the axial CT scans of the maxillary sinus. The right-sided zygoma
and the zygomatic bone also demonstrate considerable thickening. This
bony changes fill the
right maxillary sinus subtotally.
The right temporomandibular
joint (the portion of the temporal bone) also demonstrates a bony thickening
unlike the left side. These bony
changes could
be generally described as being pumiceous. Swelling
of mucous membrane of both maxillary sinuses are also visualized.
DIAGNOSIS:
Large
fibrous dysplasia on the right side of the maxilla with subtotal occlusion
of the right maxillary sinus. Fibrous
dysplasia of the zygomatic bone, zygomatic arch and right temporal
bone.
DIFFERENTIAL
DIAGNOSIS:
Other
osteogenic diseases.
