ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A 32 year old patient reports about a some years ago occured tumescence in the
left submandibular region. On palpation a soft and displaceable knot can be felt.
FINDINGS:
On
a longitudinal as well as on a transversal plane is in the parenchyma of the submandibular
gland a
well definable, hypoechoic
tumour with
some strong echo-reflecting
shares and
distal signal enhancement visible. The hypoechoic structure has its borders clearly
within the parenchyma of the gland. The mylohyoid
muscle and
the base
of the tongue as
well as the lower
jaw bone are
visualized and clearly differentiable from the tumour.
DIAGNOSIS:
The patient
is suspected of having a pleomorphic adenoma of the left submandibular gland
with calcified shares.
