ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A 27 year old patient reports about recurrent postprandial swellings in the area
of the left submandibular gland for some years.
FINDINGS:
On
the sonogramm an approximately 11 mm sized hyperechoic
reflection is
visible. The structure shows a distal signal extinction that is as strong as
that from the mandible.
It borders on the dorsal margin of the mylohyoid
muscle and
the hilar region of the left submandibular gland. The parenchyma of
the gland is mildly hypoechoic changed.
DIAGNOSIS:
The
patient has a sialolithiasis of
the left submandibular
gland.
