ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A 69 year old patient shows a swelling in the left submandibular region that
occurred 6 months ago and is not tender. The submandibular gland is hard when
palpated and is displaceable.
FINDINGS:
In
the parenchyma of the left submandibular
gland a
well definable and regularly bordered hypoechoic
structure with
distal signal enhancement is visible. It has an extent of about 3 x 3 cm. The base
of the tongue, the lower
jaw bone and the muscles of the oral
diaphragm that
border on the gland are not infiltrated.
DIAGNOSIS:
The
patient has an adenoma of
the left submandibular
gland.
