ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A 48 year old patient suffers from a stenosis of the left parotid duct after
operation and has undergone stent insertion into the duct because of iatrogenic
caused stenosis.
FINDINGS:
Lying masseter
muscle and the mandible with
its distal signal extinction the region of the left parotid
duct is
visible. In the duct a hyperechoic structure with double
contour is
visualized that reaches from Bichat´s
fat pad to the oral
cavity. Underneath there are hyperechoic
reflections with
distal signal extinction recognizable.
DIAGNOSE:
A
patient who underwent stent insertion into the Stenon´s
duct because
of iatrogenic caused stenosis shows sonographically a regularly located stent
with its double
contour and
some air
inclusions around
it immediately after insertion. The echo-reflecting signal described above
is caused by the air inclusions.
