ANAMNESIS / SYMPTOMS:
A 70 year old patient reports about a small swelling in the area of the left parotid gland that occured some years ago. The swelling gets clearly bigger under lateroversion of the head.



FINDINGS
:
On a transversal plane a well definable, honeycomb-like and inhomogenous echo-reflecting structure is visualized. Hypo- and hyperechoic shares are recognizable. The tumour is located in the parenchyma of the parotid gland and borders on the masseter muscle and the mandible. On the colour encoded Dopplerīs sonogramm on a longitudinal plane the hypoechoic shares are heaviliy circulated. The tumour is hardly compressible with the transducer.


DIAGNOSIS:
The patient is suspected of having a haemangioma in the area of the left parotid gland.
