ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A patient underwent radiochemotherapy because of a carcinoma of the right side
of the tongue 6 months ago. Now he suffers from a persisting pain in the former
resection area.
FINDINGS:
On
the sonogramm an assymetry between left and right half
of the tongue is clearly visible. In the area of the right half of the tongue hyperechoic
reflections following
on hypoechoic
alterations are
visualized. The muscles of the oral
diaphragm are
discernible.
DIAGNOSIS:
The patient
is suspected of suffering from a radiation-induced
ulcer after
resection and radiochemotherapy of a carcinoma of the tongue.
DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:
Relapse
of the tumour
