ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A 49 year old patient suffers from a distinctive lockjaw with heavy pain on deglutition
with a pronounciation on the right side.
FINDINGS:
In
the space
of the right palatine tonsil a hypoechoic
structure with
undefinable borders is visible that exceeds the tonsilar space in the cranial
and lateral direction. The base
of the tongue and the submandibular
gland are
clearly differentiable.
DIAGNOSIS:
The patient
is suspected of having a peritonsillar
abscess.
The diagnosis is based on the undefinable bordered structure in the sonogramm.
