ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A 20 year old patient sees the doctor because of bilateral pain on deglutition.
The palatine tonsills are bilaterally enlarged, reddened and show purulent stipples.
The patient has fever.
FINDINGS:
In
the submandibular region the left sided palatine
tonsil shows
as clearly enlarged and borders in the aboral direction on the base
of the toungue and the tongue.
Altogether the tonsil is very well definable from the surrounding tissue. There
is no indication of an echofree tumour. The base
of the tongue and submandibular
gland are
without pathological findings.
DIAGNOSIS:
The
patient suffers from an acute tonsillitis. There is no indication of a peri-
or intratonsillar abscess.
