ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
Patient with diagnosed bronchial carcinoma and extensive carcinomatosis in the
mediastinal area.
FINDINGS:
In
the area of the right jugular
vein shows an intraluminally located, spiral-shaped
alteration with partly strongly echogenic reflexes in terms of a sludge phenomenon.
The common
carotid artery is without pathological findings as well as the other visible
structures.
DIAGNOSIS:
Flow disturbance on the basis of bronchial carcinoma and extensive carcinomatosis
of the mediastinal area can be described. This causes neck vein distension
and a clearly slowed down flow in the internal
jugular vein. On the ultrasonic image a so called sludge-phenomenon is
visible, which is caused by the slow blood flow.
