ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A 70 year old patient is suffering from a palatine paralysis and a paralysis
of the leftsided recurrent laryngeal nerve for 4 weeks. On palpation there are
no pathological findings in the area of the neck.
FINDINGS:
On
the sonogramm is located medial of the internal
jugular vein and the sternocleidomastoid
muscle a hypoechoic tumour visible.
Its distal border is not clearly visualizable. Medial of the tumour the facial
vein is visible. On the distal border of the sonogramm a strongly echo-reflecting
structure is visualized that corresponds to the prevertebral muscle layer.
DIAGNOSIS:
The patient
is suspected of having a neurinoma
of the vagus nerve of the left side.
