ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A 30 year old patient shows a bulging at the border between right lateral cervical
and supraclavicular region that occurred 5 days ago. The bulging developed within
a few hours and is very painful on palpation.
FINDINGS:
Lateral
of the internal
jugular vein, cranial of the subclavian
vein and immediately bordering on the sternocleidomastoid
muscle shows
a hypoechoic tumour with
an extent of 23 x 24 x 11 mm. The tumour has hyperechoic
septum-like structures inside and is well definable from the surrounding
tissue. It is compressible with the transducer on the ultrasound image.
DIAGNOSIS:
The patient is suspected of having a haemorrhagic
cyst.
DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:
Necrotic lymphatic node with abscess formation
