HISTORY / CLINIC:
8-year-old
boy with swelling and intense skin redness in the middle of the neck at the
level of the hyoid and thyroid cartilages. The deglutition and mass lesion
itself are very painful.
FINDINGS:
The
T2 coronal image (left) demonstrates a poorly
circumscribed hyperintense mass.
This mass also appears high
in signal in the T2 sagittal image (right).
DIAGNOSIS:
Infected
median cervical cyst
DIFFERENTIAL
DIAGNOSIS:
Uninfected
cyst.
