CASE HISTORY / CLINIC:
Patient in very bad general condition with an axillary temperature of 39°C. Very pronounced trismus. Patient holds the cervical spine in a relieving posture. Extreme pain and redness of the skin around the floor of the mouth and submandibular
region.


FINDINGS:
The axial CT image of the floor of the mouth demonstrates a right-sided soft tissue consolidation with pockets of air.
These air pockets are also well demonstrated in the coronary image.


DIAGNOSIS:
Abscess in the floor of the mouth resulting from sialadenitis


DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:
Postoperative damage.
