CASE
HISTORY / CLINIC:
70-year-old patient with pronounced painless swelling of the left parotid
gland.
The skin is somewhat reddened and intensely vascularized. The mass is firmly
adherent on the skin, almost perforating on one spot. Paresis of the facial nerve
for 4 weeks.
BEFUND:
The T2 as well as the axial and coronal images demonstrate a large
inhomogeneous, hyperdense, patially cystic mass lesion.
The mass appears inhomogeneously
hyperdense after contrast administraton. It extends laterally
into the subcutaneous fat.
DIAGNOSIS:
Acinus-cell carcinoma
DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:
Other malignant tumors of the parotid gland.
