CASE
HISTORY / CLINIC:
Patient noticed a painless, mobile preauricular
swelling on the left side of the face while shaving.
No other pathological findings exist besides the visible and palpable changes.
No tenderness.
FINDINGS:
The T2-weighted image shows a relatively
homogeneous, hyperdense, well-defined mass in the right parotid gland. This
appears hypodense in
the T1-weighted image and shows a strong contrast-enhancement after
contrast administration. The
mass is better seen than the
ascending portion of the lower jaw in the coronal image
DIAGNOSIS:
Pleomorphic adenoma
DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:
Other benign mass lesions of the parotid gland.
