CASE HISTORY / CLINIC:
20-year-old patient with edematous upper and lower eyelids with conjunctival injection. Lids apear very red, openning of the eyes is almost impossible. Patient suffers from a severe cold for two weeks now.



FINDINGS:
The maxillary sinus and the ethmoidal cells on the left appear almost completely radio-opaque in the coronal image at bony window (upper picture). The coronal image at soft-tissue window (lower image) also demonstrates a of soft-tissue opacity in the left orbita, bordering on the lamina papyracea of the left orbita. Displacement of the medial rectus muscle.


DIAGNOSIS:
Sinusitis involving orbital cavity.


DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:
Mass lesion in the ethmoidal cells near the orbita.
