CASE
HISTORY/CLINIC:
61-year-old HIV-positive patient with severe headache. Condition after decompression
of a spinal stenosis and subsequent dorsal and ventral stabilisation.
FINDINGS:
The T2-w and the noncontrast T1-w images show postoperative changes and degenerations,
artifacts caused by the metal of the osteosynthesis.
The postcontrast T1-w image shows a lawn-like contrast
enhancement ventral to the pons, medulla oblongata and along the cervical
spinal cord.
DIAGNOSIS:
Meningitis caused
by candida sepsis. Degenerative and postoperative changes in the spinal column.
DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:
Bakterial
meningitis
sarcoidosis
Meningiosis carcinomatosa
