CASE
HISTORY/CLINIC:
67-year-old patient with back pains that radiate to the legs
FINDINGS:
Thin, poorly defined zone with isointense to hyperintense signal on T1 and
iso- to slightly hyperintense signal on T2
(fat saturation) and contrast
enhancement on the T1 weighted sequence (fat saturation) in the subcortical
medullary cavity (in comparison to the adjacent normal marrow). Lumbar vertebral
bodies 1/2 and 3/4 with reduced intervertebral space and Signal effacement of
the intervertebral discs (or Nucleus pulposus) of the entire lumbar vertebral
column. Narrow spinal canal.
DIAGNOSIS:
Degenerative
lesions in the lumbar
vertebral column with changes in the medullary
cavity of the vertebra (Modic II) and
degenerative changes in intervertebral discs (desiccated Nucl. Pulposus
) and narrowing of the intervertebral space. Narrow spinal canal.
