CASE HISTORY / CLINIC:
67 years old patient with hemiplegia on the right side and
motor aphasia



FINDINGS:
Unenhanced CCT (i.e. without contrast administration).
Hypodense appearance of the anterior supply area of the left middle cerebral artery. Unidentifiable
interface between gray and white matter on the left side.


DIAGNOSIS:
Subacute infarct of the left middle cerebral artery (48-96h). Because the basal ganglia are intact, the occlusion of the middle cerebral artery lies distal after the branching of the lenticulostriate arteries.
