CASE
HISTORY / CLINIC:
55-year-old patient with
sudden dyspnea. Known history of venous thrombosis of the lower limb.
FINDINGS:
No
pathological changes in the right
lung whereas the left
lung appears hyperlucent.
Unlike in the right
lung hilus no comparable structure is evident on the left (Severed
hilus with peripheral oligemia - Westermark's sign).
DIAGNOSIS:
Pulmonary
embolism of the main branch of the left pulmonary artery.
