ANAMNESIS / SYMPTOMS:
A 27 year old patient underwent extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy (ESWL) of a stone in the left submandibular gland.

FINDINGS
:
Immediately after the ESWL there are hyperechoic reflections visible. The reflecting structures are arranged in a row and show irregular bordered surfaces. The total extent of all structures counts 16,4 mm. They are located in the depth behind the mylohyoid muscle in the hilar region of the submandibular gland. The parenchyma of the gland shows as softened in its structure.

DIAGNOSIS:
The patientīs sonogramm shows a regular finding after fragmentation of a sialolith by means of lithotripsy. The fragments are arranged in a row in the glandīs duct and can now be removed by means of a basket extractor or massage of the gland.
