ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A
70 year old patient reports about a small swelling in the area of the left
parotid gland that occured some years ago. The swelling gets clearly bigger
under lateroversion of the head.
FINDINGS:
On
a transversal plane a well definable, honeycomb-like and inhomogenous echo-reflecting
structure is visualized. Hypo- and hyperechoic shares are recognizable. The tumour is
located in the parenchyma of the parotid
gland and
borders on the masseter
muscle and
the mandible.
On the colour encoded Doppler´s sonogramm on a longitudinal plane the hypoechoic
shares are heaviliy circulated. The tumour is hardly compressible with the transducer.
DIAGNOSIS:
The patient
is suspected of having a haemangioma in
the area of the left parotid
gland.
