ANAMNESIS / SYMPTOMS:
A 6 year old boy suffers from episodes of apnoea. He shows mouth breathing.


FINDINGS:
Bilaterally the parenchyma of the submandibular glands as well as the base of the tongue and the mylohyoid and geniohyoid muscles are visualized without pathological findings. The palatine tonsills of both sides are hypoechoic and clearly enlarged. The hyperechoic reflections of the crypts are clearly visible on the sonogramm.


DIAGNOSIS:
The patient is suspected of suffering from a hyperplasia of the palatine tonsills.
