ANAMNESIS
/ SYMPTOMS:
A patient reports about recurrent swellings in the area of the left sided floor
of the mouth.
FINDINGS:
Bordering
on the anterior pole of the sublingual
gland an
almost echofree tumour with
distal signal amplification is visible. The structure is located in the area
of the oral diaphragm. The tumour is well definable from the tissue of the tongue.
The tongue shows
no restriction of movement. Further the anterior part of the body
of the mandible and the mylohyoid
muscle as
the borders of the oral diaphragm are visualized. The surface of the tongue is
recognizable by its strong hyperechoic reflection.
DIAGNOSIS:
The patient
is suspected of having ranula.
