CASE
HISTORY / CLINIC:
28-year-old patient with painless palpable swelling in the palate and impaired
nasal breathing.
FINDINGS:
The contrast-enhanced CT scan (upper left image) reveals an inhomogeneous contrast-enhancing mass in
the palate. The bony

right image). A polypous
swelling of the mucous membrane of the right maxillar sinus is demonstrated
as a side finding.
The craniocaudal extension of the mass is
well demonstrated in the coronal CT scan (lower image). The extension of the
mass between the oral cavity and the main nasal cavity can be seen.
DIAGNOSIS:
Giant-cell granuloma
DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:
Pleomorphic adenoma, oropharyngeal carcinoma
