CASE
HISTORY / CLINIC:
Patient who had undregone an enoral resection of a tumor in the floor of the
mouth followed by interstitial radiotherapy. Small ulcer at the location of the
resected tumor. Only inflammatory tissue can be found in biopsy. Continuous pain
around the left cheek and jaw.
FINDINGS:
The right side of the lower alveolar bone appears prominently
hyperintense in the T2-weighted image (upper left image).
This area appears hypointense in
the contrast-enhanced T1
image without fat saturation (upper right image).
The area shows prominent
hyperintensity again in the fat saturation T1 contrast-enhanced image.
DIAGNOSIS:
Osteomyelitis
