CASE HISTORY :
A 55-year-old patient suddenly complains of severe headache during sexual intercourse.
Patient is comatose.


FINDINGS
:
Unenhanced scan (i.e. without contrast administration).
Hyperdense (60-80HE) structures in the subarachnoid space, hyperdense (60-80HE) structures in the sulci . Flattened gyri und sulci.


DIAGNOSIS:
Acute subarachnoid hemorrhage with evidence of blood around the base of the brain and on both sides of the sylvian fissure.
Brain edema


DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS:
Acute/chronic meningitis
Tuberculous meningitis
Meningeal carcinomatosis
