CASE HISTORY / CLINIC:
31-year-old patient after a traffic accident. Intubation was done at the accident site one hour before the roentgenograms were taken. No breath sounds heard over the left lung.



FINDINGS:
The following structures can be seen: the trachea and tracheal bifurcation, a tubus, mediastinal shift to the left, total atelectasis on the left, and a central venous catheter that has been displaced laterally to the left of the spinal column.


DIAGNOSIS:
Atelektasis due to wrong intubation. Mediastinal shift to the left.


DIFFERENTIALDIAGNOSE:
Large pleural effusion
