Benign tumours of the stomach may be of epithelial origin (adenomas or papillomas)
or mesenchymal origin (leiomyomas, fibromas, lipomas). Most polyps
of the stomach are hyperplastic ones with no malignant potential. Most benign
tumours of the stomach do not cause symptoms. If bleeding occurs, it will
cause symptoms and signs of acute gastrointestinal hemorrhage (tarry stools,
syncope, vomiting of blood).
